A Couple of Days Ago and Preorders

Oh, dear. Today I am fretting and swilling tea like there's no tomorrow. Tea makes things better. Mmmmm.

(This is my favorite swillin' tea.)

I've got no excuse for being tetchy, I've had a lovely couple of days. Our fifteenth wedding anniversary was on the second. We went out for wonderful food and gave each other goofy presents. It was nice. Even better: in all of the fifteen years we've been married, (and the two before that that we were pretending to be married) I have never had a single moment when I've wished for something else. It's been amazing, and it's as much fun now as it was at the start. This living in each other's pockets thing agrees with me.

Yesterday we braved the rain and traffic and finally got ourselves down to Belltown to see the Anachrotechnofetishism show at Suite 100 Gallery. There was some kind of accident on the roads, so we sat in traffic all the way down, and got there only a couple of hours before the show closed. It was well worth the haul. The only problem was that I had a little trouble focusing, I was so worried that my unpredictable jumping bean children would knock something over. I'm glad I brought the older one, anyway. He was extremely impressed. So was I. So was Phil. There was some amazing work there.

Today, however, I've been stressing over the pre-order listings I've been working on. We've spent a lot of money gearing up for this holiday season, and it's a bit alarming. So I've listed some things early, which I'm not fond of doing.

We're doing preorders for a few reasons, most of them are self-serving. Preorders help us pay for the manufacturing of the items. They allow us to get the packaging together so that, when the items arrive, we can just drop them into the already-labeled mailers and send them out. And, finally, people have asked for them. So there you are. Don't preorder if you're uncomfortable with it. I'd rather have happy customers than the money a bit early.  In several cases, I don't yet have actual photos of the items! My pin manufacturer has promised me actual product photos early next week.  That said, I'm pretty confident in the quality of work that these companies do. All of these items are being made by companies that we have worked with before, in most cases on the same kind of items.
I've got lots of pins, and we're reprinting the winged trilobite backpacks. We are also doing a small run of Jägermonster backpacks. If they do well, we'll make more. Please have a look!

We are doing a Wulfenbach pin. You'll see it on the preorder page. We aren't doing a Wulfenbach backpack just yet, because I had to draw the line somewhere. Maybe I'll take preorders until I have enough for a run... that might be the way to do it...

And I'm working on getting T-shirts of that airship art. More on that later.

I'm also setting up a contest page for Girl Genius, and fussing over the details. I'm pretty sure I've worked out something I'm happy with. So, more about that later, too.

15th anniversary?

Conga Rats!

Sorry they aren't Steampunk, though.

And many happy returns of the day!

Wahahaha! Clearly, they've been modified by a talented Spark. Works for me!

Ooooo, a contest page? I like that idea!

I think you're using New Math--I swear it was last week when Phil was standing in front of that crowd in the church looking so happy and proud he could bust and you were looking shell-shocked that there was a roomful of people watching you standing there in a wedding dress...

As much as I'm sure you need another event right now like I need another tea pot, did you know this was going on this weekend?

I didn't get to stay for very long, but the tea tasting was fun, and the talks seemed very interesting.

Hrm. I'm sorry I missed it, but time wouldn't have permitted, anyway. It sounds lovely!

Maybe I'll take preorders until I have enough for a run... that might be the way to do it...

Please give this method a try.
And roasted green tea sounds lovely.
Happy belated anniversary! We're a little over double ahead of you. Always like to find other in-the-pocket-suited-type couples.
Another request: I've nearly worn the logo off my "Know Enough..." mug. Any plans for repeating those?

*chuckle* You know what would be a cute tribute for the day? Putting up the old, old strip (I *think* it was a What's New, but I'm not sure) where Phil 'rolled up' Dixie.. ;-) (And on a side note to that, I kinda wish you'd include your commentary on the What's New strips that you put in the collecteds up on the online site as well--some of the little tidbits like the reason *why* Dixie's hair-color changed are great. Of course, I can see the flipside as well, that you'd want to keep that as an exclusive benefit of buying the printed versions. :-/ )

You make such pretty things! If I ever get out of grad school and become a professor (to earn money) I will start buying them.

The Jaeger pack looks *perfect* for my next backpack-- and if, by chance, it makes it here by Halloween-- I have another excuse to go as a Jaeger. And annoy everyone who comes to my sister's with stories of Girl Genius. *grin*

Happy Anniversary! Best wishes for many more...

Congratulations! I remember how right you seemed for each other way back when you two MC'd the SDCC masquerade last century. I am glad it has worked out so well for you!

Is there any chance you'll have trilobite pins of some sort at the Steampunk Convention at the end of the month? 'Cause my kinetic sculpture pilot wants one for her Agatha costume.

GG Safari backpack
I looked at it and have only one problem, it's too small for my laptop. Currently, I am using a Tom Bihn Ego messenger bag. Tom Bihn is in your neck of the globe. I would gladly buy a Super Ego done up like the Girl Genius Safari bag.

Girl Genius mentioned...

Girl Genius was mentioned in an article about Steampunk. Thought you'd be amused and enjoy the comment.

Take care!
