Secret Shame...

Every time I hold up my sword to charge it in Skyward Sword, I am compelled to shout: "By the power of Greyskull!"

I can't help it. I have to.

Well I don't see what's so shameful about that. That's what every red-blooded dyed-in-the-wool geek grrl does. I think it's coded into us somehow.

You beat me to it.

Or you could say, "What's going on?"

On one hand, I think that's utterly awesome, and I'd be right there with you if I was playing this game.

On the other hand, I dread the day when I make such a joke around my son, and he gives me a dumbfounded look. I will then know what it was like for my dad when he tried to explain to me about watching "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie" at the dawn of television.

You just made my evening :D

You've got the powder?
Feb. 16th, 2012 11:36 am (UTC)
It is OK, your secret is safe on the internet.

Wait ... Hang on... Ooops.

Err, you didn't really mind that going up on Reddit, did you? (j/k)

I am not a Sailor Moon fan, but for awhile I kept ending up where Monitors were showing the scene where she raises her compact high to transform. And every time I was compelled to shout Daffy Duck's line, "MAKE-UUUUP."
Feb. 17th, 2012 11:08 pm (UTC)
Daffy Duck actually cribbed that from Milton Berle. Berle would play the pompous actor on the receiving end and one of the ensemble cast (Louis Nye?)on his old Texaco show would play his perfectionist director who would call out for make-up touch ups between takes. Berle's innocent co-star would get a few daubs and Berle would get a sofa cushion covered in flour or talc.

That's not as bad as my compultion to sing 'Thriller' whenever I run into a pack of zombies!

Oops, I said too much...

There is absolutely, positively, nothing wrong with upholding the awesome.
Feb. 16th, 2012 04:37 pm (UTC)
Well, what's the point of having a sword if you don't do that?
Feb. 16th, 2012 05:49 pm (UTC)
No shame! After all, you didn't make the rules.
Feb. 16th, 2012 06:45 pm (UTC)
As compulsions go, that's one of the better ones. :)
Feb. 17th, 2012 04:03 am (UTC)
Ummm... It's not such a *secret* shame anymore, is it?
Feb. 17th, 2012 04:06 am (UTC)
That's not in the least bit shameful! Sing it proud, sista! :D
